Darul Quran
I know the existence of Darul Quran (DQ) in Kuala Kubu Bharu since I moved here. However, I am rather ignorant on the function of the institution until recently...
I learned that DQ will produce hafiz/hafizah who will later take up professional courses in universities. Thus, we will have professionals with added value and perhaps can resolve this problem.

Islamization of Knowledge
The idea of Islamization of knowledge has been of concern to many Muslim scholars. In the academic circles the idea is pioneered by the late Dr Ismail Raji Al-Faruqi (1921-1986). Al-Faruqi realizes that the world-ummah of Islam stands at the lowest rung of nations. Muslim intellectuals look to the west for knowledge without realizing that the secular knowledge revolves around western experience and is thus designed to meet its specific needs. The western concepts of knowledge reject the revelations as a source of guidance and knowledge.
Faruqi’s concept of Islamization of Knowledge and its requirements written in General Principles and Workplan (1982) emphasizes the key role played by the social sciences in modern societies. Thus, social reform of these sciences as an integral part of the Islamization of Knowledge process is needed. Eventually, the aim of Islamization of Knowledge to Faruqi is to overcome the distinction between the modern secular and traditional Islamic system of education and to produce an integrated system of education. To Faruqi, Islamization of Knowledge is “to Islamize the disciplines, or better, to produce university level textbooks recasting some twenty disciplines in accordance with the Islamic vision (cited in Motem, 2000).”
Taha Jabir Alwani approach towards Islamization of Knowledge focuses on identifying and articulating the relationship between revelation and real existence. He places the importance on Shari’ah or Islamic sciences and excludes the philosophers of social sciences.
Another distinguished scholar in this respect is Abdul Hamid A. Abu Sulayman. He focuses on both reforming the Islamic and modern sciences as he feels that both modern social sciences and traditional Islamic sciences have shortfalls that prevent them from contributing to the contemporary world. As such his priority is given to the field of political science as he believes that the political system represents the concerns, the philosophy and the direction of the society.
Though the three scholars take up different approaches in their views of Islamization of Knowledge, they work together, being supportive of one another as their ultimate aim is the same, that is, to uplift the image of Islam. They have left a legacy and a challenge to Muslim scholars of today. Muslim scholars have to pursue the challenge as the Islamization of Knowledge is a lifelong process. Taking up this challenge is vital for the betterment of the Ummah.

Jangan Menyiksa Diri
This is taken from Himpunan Kisah-kisah teladan (Kisah2 Benar):
God has created the world and its inhabitants for men and for men to benefit from them.
Story 1:
Pada satu hari Rasulullah SAW melihat seorang yg menunaikan haji sedang dipapah oleh 2 org anaknya lalu baginda bertanya: "Mengapa dgn orang ini?". Anak2nya menjawab, "Dia bernazar utk menunaikan haji dgn berjalan kaki."
Rasulullah berkata: "Sesungguhnya Allah SWT tidak memerlukan orang yg menyiksa dirinya."
Lalu Rasulullah memerintahkan kepada orang itu agar menaiki kenderaan untuk menunaikan haji.

Children
For us parents..we are entrusted with our children. Blessed with children but humongous responsibilities to carry on our shoulders. We have to guide our children, feed them, care for them, love them etc...
I only have three children..alhamdulillah..however, upon reflection, I have this thought that I am not destined to have many children because I do not have the patience and many other characteristics that fit those who can handle many children..I do not reach that level...
Nevertheless, I know with my three children, I have done my very best to provide them with love, care, education and all things possible for a child. It is always in my prayer that my children will always be successful in this world and the hereafter...and only Allah can help me...InsyaAllah

I went home expecting the other half and the kids were ready to go..but..as usual everyone was not ready...something that I should not be surprised of..I did not want to waste my time being stressed up or angry..so, I used the time waiting by doing whatever needed to be done at home..house chores ni never ending..sejak2 tak de bibik ni tak menang tangan dibuatnya..
The mini reunion went well..Ella & Ina (the organizer), Alis (bonda) n her daughter, Haniza, Hana accompanied by her Nuha n Izzah, Mama n daughter, Kamilia n yours truly...Am waiting for photos taken by Hana. Looking forward to the year end reunion which is planned to be on a bigger scale..go Ella n Ina...
Hanna's Wedding
After maghrib we quickly got ready to go to Shah Alam..to kak Mala's residence...she is hosting a nikah ceremony of one of her twins, Hanna. Although I don't visit kak Mala very often..the memories of our childhood days are fresh in my mind. As for Hanna..we only met on very few occasions..itupun when she was still small..during her birth, once in Subang Jaya, and on my wedding.....she has grown up into a fine, beautiful young lady..Selamat Pengantin Baru..may this marriage will always be blessed...

Accepting defeat
My daughter came back from school rather frustrated just now..she failed to be one of the finalists for the spelling competition at the district level...managed to be in the final twelve though..from 52 contestants..and I say not bad... the second defeat for her this month..earlier she did not make it in the public speaking competition....so, my task was to advise her to accept defeat, to accept what was fated, good that she had tried and succeeded to certain extent bla, bla, bla......
I know she'll pull through but you just feel for her....InsyaAllah, there will always be next time..
thus, you will do better next time...ok, dear..:)

Al-fatihah Dr Amin Tai
It has been a while since my last entry. Life has been pretty hectic with four courses and of course all those mini researches and a proposal...but I know I have learned so much...
Yesterday was a sad day..knowing about the death of such a wonderful and committed doctor..Though it was nine years ago that we met him for a few times for Adam's surgery, his way of treating us touched my heart..Semoga rohnya diletakkan bersama-sama orang yang beriman...
I am sure Marz will miss arwah Dr Haliza too for she had been her family paed for the four girls....
Al-fatihah for both of them.....

Something to cheer about
Yes...the Star reported that Sime Darby has decided to scrap its plan to takeover IJN..I feel relief..soooo relief. I am actually very sad eversince I read about SD's plan...I can feel for those unfortunate ones cos' I am among them...those who can't afford exorbitant fees when it comes to medical expenses.
It is indeed something to cheer about.....
